Questions from Augsburg

We have plants in several places. What does that mean for the software?
Above all that you have to decide early where the truth sits. One shared database is simpler to look after but hangs off the network connection. Separate systems carry on independently but have to be reconciled. Both are workable; the decision belongs at the start and not in the middle of the project.
Does somebody on our side have to set time aside?
Yes, and it is worth saying so plainly. Without somebody from the department who may answer questions, you get an application that is technically right and wrong about the business. It is not about a lot of time, but it does have to be dependable.
We have to evidence consumption data for a certification. Does an application help?
If the data is currently gathered in spreadsheets, usually yes. The gain lies less in the recording than in the evidence: a figure whose origin you can show, rather than one somebody assembled at the end of the quarter. Which standard you have to meet, though, is for your auditor to say and not for us.
Can we start with one plant?
We would recommend it. One plant first, with enough time for feedback, then the second. Switching everything over at once saves a few weeks and pays them back in support.
