Laravel development for companies in Esslingen

We develop from Stuttgart for businesses in Esslingen and the surrounding district. For the kick-off and for decisions we come out; the run down the Neckar valley is short.

Esslingen am Neckar lies east of Stuttgart and is a short run away down the Neckar valley. Around four thousand businesses are based here, and the mixture is typical of the region: mechanical engineering, automotive supply, electrical engineering and automation, along with a university that has been sending engineers into the surrounding firms for decades.

What stands out is the density of businesses that lead the world market in a narrow niche. Firms like these have a property that matters more to software projects than their size: their processes have grown over decades and fit no off-the-shelf product.

Here, software sits between the processes

In manufacturing businesses, software is rarely in the shop window. It sits in order processing, in quality documentation, in the link between inventory management and production. Nobody sees it until it is missing.

Which is exactly why no standard product fits. A vendor serving two thousand customers cannot reflect why your approval only follows the second measurement, or why one particular customer gets a test certificate of their own. Rules like these are the reason the firm still exists, and they belong in an application built for them.

Laravel is a good foundation for that. It brings enough structure that the result is still maintainable years later, and it does not get in the way of your own rules. More on that under Laravel development.

The most common case: connecting, not rebuilding

What these businesses usually need is not a new island but a bridge. An ERP system that should deliver data. A customer portal showing order status. A test record flowing back from production into the system.

The effort almost never sits in the application itself but in the translation. Two systems calling the same thing by different names. An article number carried with a leading zero in one place and without in the other. A date field that has also contained free text since 2011, because somebody once needed it that way.

So we look at data like this before we estimate, not afterwards. How we build interfaces is under API and backend development.

When the machines already produce data

Industry 4.0 is not a slogan in Esslingen but has been a funding programme and an everyday subject for years. In practice it usually comes down to the plant having been recording for a long time and the data landing in a directory nobody opens.

The way from there to a usable report is shorter than many expect, but it runs through an uncomfortable question. Which decision is the figure meant to inform? Anyone without an answer builds a dashboard nobody opens after four weeks. Anyone with one usually needs less than they thought.

Applications that already exist

Many applications in mid-sized firms are older than they look and have run reliably for years. While that holds, there is no reason to rebuild.

It gets critical elsewhere. When the one person who knows how the thing is updated retires. When the PHP version is so old that the host gives notice. When a vulnerability becomes known and nobody can judge whether it applies. We look at systems like these with a code audit and say what presses and what can wait.

FAQ

Questions from the region

Do you have an office in Esslingen?
No. Our base is Stuttgart, and we think it more honest to say so than to keep an address where nobody ever is. For meetings we come to you.
So how does working together actually run?
Kick-off and larger decisions on site, the ongoing work from Stuttgart, fixed dates for progress reviews. When something in the project sticks, we are there quickly.
Our machines produce data and nobody uses it. Where do you start?
With the question of which decision the data is meant to inform. That sounds obvious and it saves you the most expensive kind of project: the report that is technically correct and that nobody looks at. Once it is settled who needs which figure and what for, the rest is manageable.
We have an ERP we are not allowed to touch. Is that still possible?
That is the rule rather than the exception. In most cases read access to a database, an export directory or an existing interface is enough. We build alongside and write back only where your IT provider has explicitly allowed it.
Can you work with our IT provider?
Yes, and it is usually better that way. Those people have known your environment for years. We settle early who is answerable for which part, so that in an incident two suppliers do not end up pointing at each other.

A project in Esslingen?

We are happy to come out for a first conversation. The journey is manageable.
