Three projects that show how we work. A good part of what we do sits behind login screens and cannot be shown; these three we are allowed to name.
What these three show
The projects come from the portfolio of aceArt GmbH, the firm behind this site. They are deliberately different from each other.
Fischführer is the Laravel project in the narrow sense. A backend serving several apps, delivering content, and dealing with the peculiarity that its users are standing by the water where there is rarely a signal. How we cut backends like that is under API and backend development.
Ferien mit Hund runs on WordPress. The CMS is the uninteresting part. What is interesting is the interface behind it, importing more than 150,000 places to stay and reconciling them daily. Backend work, regardless of what finally delivers the pages. Tasks like these are described under connecting existing systems.
Lakof BW runs on TYPO3 and stands here for something else. For duration. Since 2019 it has been developed further, supported and kept on maintained PHP versions. Exactly the work we describe under maintenance and support. And the reason we ask, on every new project, who will be looking after it in three years.

Three projects in detail
The projects come from the portfolio of aceArt GmbH, the firm behind this site. Each one names the technology actually used, including where that is not Laravel, and what the project demonstrates for a Laravel undertaking.

Angling · associations in nine German states
Fischführer: an app with a Laravel backend
The Laravel project in the narrow sense: a backend serving several apps, delivering content and providing images in several sizes.
- Starting point
- Anglers need dependable figures on species, closed seasons and minimum sizes while they are out. Those figures differ by state and they change.
- Brief
- One iOS and one Android app built on Ionic, with a Laravel backend behind them as the single source. The apps had to work without a network, because they are used at the water.
- Outcome
- Guides for nine German states. Content is loaded from the backend and cached on the device, so the app carries on offline. The backend scales images down into several sizes and packs them into archives from which each device pulls the ones matching its screen.

Travel · online portal
Ferien mit Hund: 150,000 places to stay through one interface
Backend and integration work: the hard part was not the CMS but reconciling daily with somebody else’s system.
- Starting point
- The accommodation data sat with the provider BestFewo. Anyone wanting to book left the portal, and in search terms the content counted for somebody else.
- Brief
- The places to stay were to live in the portal itself: imported, searchable, bookable. Along with a running reconciliation so that availability and prices are right.
- Outcome
- More than 150,000 places to stay are imported through an XML interface; an automated run reconciles availability and prices daily. The data now sits with the operator. We have looked after the platform for several years.

Higher education · state conference, Baden-Württemberg
Lakof BW: two sites under continuous care since 2019
How we stay with applications for years: continuous development, support and moving PHP versions along before it gets urgent.
- Starting point
- The state conference of equal opportunity officers runs an information site and a database site with processes of their own that keep growing.
- Brief
- Develop and run both sites rather than building them once and leaving them. That includes an application process for teaching assignments across a large number of universities.
- Outcome
- Continuous development since 2019 in close coordination with the Lakof team, technical support through the year, and current PHP and TYPO3 versions. Exactly the work we describe under maintenance and support.
